ARD CD Named One of TOP 100 of 1998!
Imagine our immense surprise and joy when we received this letter:

"Congratulations! After careful, considered review, jurors Hugh Brown, William Claxton, Fritz Marchaud, Bruce Licher and Alli Truch selected your entry to be included in AIGA/LA's Sound Blast exhibition of the Top CDs of 1998!"

The Los Angeles Chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) presents SOUND BLAST, the premier exhibition honoring design excellence in music packaging. The SOUND BLAST exhibit will showcase the top music CDs of 1998 selected from all market segments, plus best examples promotional collateral designed and distributed in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Winning selections were drawn from a national competition judged in January 1999 by a five-person jury of industry and indie leaders including last year's Grammy Award winner for best packaging Hugh Brown, vice president of creative services at Rhino Records; William Claxton, the legendary jazz photographer and co-founder of Pacific Jazz Records; Fritz Michaud, creative director at Grand Royal Records; Bruce Licher, musician, founder and principal of Independent Project Records; and Alli Truch, vice president of creative services for the Elektra Entertainment Group.

"With SOUND BLAST, the AIGA draws public attention to the power of graphic design to distill a musician's mood, magic and motivations into a compressed visual form that invites engagement and prompts a purchase in a potent package, a 5x5" square," says Moira Cullen, president of the AIGA's Los Angeles Chapter and the competition's creative producer. "In a $12 billion industry, competition for listener's eyes and ears is fierce. SOUND BLAST will honor the year's best strategic and seductive designs that capture the ineffable the emotional exchange between an artist an audience and demonstrate the designer's ability to transform a generic silver disc into an object of desire."
